Obasanjo releases two new books to mark 88th birthday
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo will make public presentation of two new books as part of activities to mark his 88th birthday celebrations, which will hit a climax today in Abeo-kuta, Ogun State. The books are: “Lest we forget: Slavery, Slave Trade, Emancipation and Reparation” and “Nigeria: Past and the Future.”
The ceremony would also include a public lecture on slavery and colonisation. The Director General, Nigerian Institute for International Affairs, Prof. Eghosa Osaghae will deliver the lecture on “Echoes of the Past, Visions of the future: reflections on slavery and colonisation and Nigeria’s journey towards a promising future.”
The celebration will include children performances, drama, dances, songs and goodwill messages with His Majesty, King Mswati III, Ngwenyama of Eswatini.
