As Edo PDP meets, harmonises ahead of the national convention

Wife of Edo State Governor, Mrs. Betsy Obaseki, yesterday, solicited the support of Nigerian youths to make the country great again.

She stated this during the Reposition Summit organised by Firm Foundation to restore hope to the Nigerian youth as part of activities to celebrate Nigeria’s 61st Independence anniversary.

Speaking on the theme: Take Charge, Obaseki urged the youth to remain steadfast and focused, make honesty and accountability their watchword in the struggle for a better society.

She admonished them to allow their sense of self-worth to guide them out of negativity into success.

The governor’s wife, who commended the foundation for the event, described the 18th Reposition Summit as an opportunity to sow viable seeds for a healthy future for Nigeria, just as speakers harped on purpose, gender-based violence and the need for healthy relationships.

Meanwhile, the Edo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at the weekend held an enlarged stakeholder meeting for harmonisation ahead of the party’s National Convention slated to hold at the end of October 2021.

Governor Godwin Obaseki, the Deputy Governor, Comrade Philip Shaibu and other top party leaders in the state attended the meeting, which was held in Benin City.

“PDP is organising its convention at the end of October to prepare us for the convention. There were few housekeeping issues that we needed to discuss and clear, so it was important to get everybody across the divide to have a session like this, to get feedback and make decisions on what we need to do and make progress in the state.

“The meeting went well as our members are glad that PDP is back to Government House in Edo State and committed themselves to support the work of the government, this administration and leaders of the party. We want to ensure that we provide the services we promised the Edo people during the electioneering campaigns.

“Naturally not all will be happy in a situation like this and we have tried to address some of the concerns of our people, who feel unhappy due to certain things that may have happened,” he stated.
