Obaseki mourns passing of two PDP chiefs
Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, has mourned the passing of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftains in the state, Sunny Uyigue and Sunday Aguebor.
In a statement made available to The Guardian by his media aide, Crusoe Osagie, the governor said: “It is with a heavy heart that I mourn the passing of two leaders of our great party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo State, Elder Sunny Uyigue and Hon. Sunday Aguebor, who served our party and state meritoriously and contributed to our party’s successes over the years.
“Uyigue, a founding member of the PDP in Edo State, was a consummate politician and a grass-roots mobiliser. He was a force to reckon with in the politics of Edo State as he played critical roles in the advancement of democratic ideals in our state since the return to representative democracy.”
The governor described Aguebor, a former representative of Egor/Ikpoba Okha Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives between 1999 and 2003 as a dedicated party man, who worked assiduously to promote societal advancement, committing to causes that engendered sustainable development.
“While at the House of Representatives, Aguebor was dutiful in the discharge of his responsibilities,” he said.
