Obaseki promises projects as APC group warns members against parochial politics

Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has said his administration will continue with projects aimed at ensuring economic prosperity for the state and improving the livelihood of the people.

Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has said his administration will continue with projects aimed at ensuring economic prosperity for the state and improving the livelihood of the people.

Obaseki gave the assurance during the commissioning of a prayer lodge at the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN); Headquarters in Benin City.

The governor, while calling for collaboration of all stakeholders towards the attainment of a better Edo, warned citizens about detractors bent on stirring crisis in the state for their selfish gains ahead of the 2023 polls.

He said: “We are rehabilitating and constructing roads and streetlights, building infrastructure and developing the economy of Edo State. We are ready to do more for the people of Edo State as my emphasis this year is on the people.

“We want to partner with you, the PFN, because you are closer to the people and interact with them daily. We want to collaborate with you to be able to deliver the dividends of democracy to Edo people.”

On his part, Chairman, Edo PFN, Margaret Agbonifo, thanked the governor for his administration’s transformational projects, adding: “As a state, we thank God for giving us a man like Godwin Obaseki, who loves, serves, cherishes God; a man who makes and fulfils his vows.”

MEANWHILE, stakeholders, under the aegis of concerned members of All Progressives Congress in Etsako, yesterday, cautioned leaders of the party to eschew politics of parochial consideration during party primaries.

A statement signed by a group, Concerned Members of All Progressivse Congress in Etsako, led by Mallam Ibrahim Suleman, warned that the APC as an opposition party in Edo State cannot afford to toy with the Senate election particularly as it affect Edo North District.

He said: “We would like to warn the party in Edo North to present marketable candidate for the 2023 senatorial election.

“We are gathered here today in Auchi to caution leaders and stakeholders of APC to eschew politics of primordial and parochial consideration during party primaries. It is important to note that it is no longer the trend in our emerging democracy to expect to win elections without adequate background information about candidates which determine the chances of a party in elections.
