Obi congratulates Somtochi Ugorji, Loyola Marymount University’s best-graduating student

The Labour Party (LP) candidate during the 2023 presidential election, Peter Obi, on Wednesday, congratulated the best-graduating student of the Loyola Marymount University in the United States (US).

Taking to his official Twitter handle, Obi expressed his admiration for Ugorji’s exceptional academic accomplishments, highlighting his unwavering dedication and commitment to education while also wishing the young man well in life.

“I sincerely congratulate Obioma Somtochi Ugorji, the young Nigerian boy who emerged as the 2023 best-graduating student of Loyola Marymount University, Los Angeles, California, USA,” the former Anambra State governor tweeted.

“I rejoice with him for achieving this great feat in education. He not only proved his worth in education, but he also demonstrated his pride and confidence in his Nigerian origin by buttressing the true Nigerian spirit of unity, resilience and hard work.

“He has by his achievement brought honour to the nation. As a firm promoter of education, I am confident that millions of Nigerian youths are smart and if we make adequate investments in education, we will be able to raise a smart and more productive generation and a progressive nation.

“Obioma’s achievement will inspire many youths in Nigeria and beyond to strive harder for success. I wish him well in his future endeavours.”

Ugorji, an Igbo boy of 22 years old recently became the best graduating student of the Loyola Marymount University for the year 2023.

The American institution which is globally known for its academic excellence and commitment to fostering world leaders in all sectors, bestowed this prestigious honour upon Ugorji, recognising his exceptional scholastic achievements and dedication to his studies.

Meanwhile, Ugorji who is now the valedictorian of the University, was given the esteemed opportunity to address his fellow students during the graduation ceremony.

During his speech, he proudly identified himself as Nigerian and emphasized his cultural heritage.

“My family is from the Igbo tribe and in our culture, we have a phrase called ‘Igbo Kwenu.'”

Elaborating further, Ugorji explained that in Igbo land, the phrase ‘Igbo Kwenu’ serves as an endorsement and agreement.

It represents the collective strength and unity that the Igbo people share. Encouraging the audience to join in this spirit of agreement, he invited them to repeat the phrase after him whenever he said ‘Igbo Kwenu.’
