Obiejesi Chinweike leads Sendbit, to revolutionize payment systems for Nigerian freelancers and digital nomads
Obiejesi Chinweike Jude, founder of Techibytes Media LLC, is paving the way for Nigerian freelancers and digital nomads with the development of Sendbit Technologies, a fintech platform designed to simplify international payments. Techibytes Media, which houses Sendbit, specializes in software development, building web and mobile applications for various businesses, organizations, and individuals. Among its core products, Sendbit (mysendbit {Dot} com) is particularly gaining attention for addressing the financial needs of freelancers.
After several years working as a software engineer, Obiejesi decided to launch his own software development startup to solve a prevalent issue in Nigeria: freelancers and digital nomads struggling to receive international payments seamlessly. Sendbit is designed specifically to provide fast and hassle-free payment solutions for services rendered by freelancers.
“Our goal is to make payment receiving easy and smooth for freelancers and digital nomads,” Obiejesi explained. “With Sendbit, we offer international invoicing in multiple currencies, like USD, EUR, and GBP, and allow users to receive payments directly in their Naira wallets. This service, along with features like PayPal invoicing and access to dollar cards for international transactions, positions Sendbit as a ‘Fast Pay Spot’ for our users.”
Sendbit’s international invoicing feature addresses a major pain point for many Nigerian freelancers who face challenges with remittance from tier-one countries. Additionally, by collaborating with top startups in Nigeria, including those licensed by federal authorities, Sendbit ensures that all data is securely handled through trusted partners like Flutterwave.
“Our platform provides freelancers and businesses in Nigeria with solutions for remittance issues, and we make it easy for them to receive salaries or payments from abroad. The dollar card feature allows Nigerians to make purchases from international marketplaces like Amazon and AliExpress with minimal hassle,” said Obiejesi.
Rather than rushing to amass users, Sendbit focuses on delivering excellence. The platform grows its user base through a referral system, relying on satisfied users to share the product with others. In addition, Sendbit utilizes social media campaigns to reach new audiences.
Customer support is another cornerstone of Sendbit’s strategy. Obiejesi emphasizes the importance of user education and affordable services in a market where most fintech platforms charge high fees. “We understand the challenges our users face, and we’re committed to offering affordable, reliable services that help them navigate the complexities of the Nigerian fintech space.”
Sendbit has its eyes set on future growth, planning to introduce new features as the Nigerian tech space evolves. While the platform is currently focused on serving the Nigerian market, there are plans for expansion into other West African countries in the future.
“Our priority right now is delivering the best service to our Nigerian users. But as we grow, we’ll be exploring opportunities to serve digital nomads and freelancers in other parts of West Africa,” Obiejesi noted.
Building Sendbit has been a learning journey for Obiejesi and his co-founder, Erigbemi Oyindamola. Together, they have navigated the complexities of Nigeria’s fintech landscape, understanding the challenges and limitations that come with developing solutions for a third-world country.
“We’ve had supercharged moments throughout this journey, learning about the Nigerian fintech space and meeting with key industry players for guidance. Despite the challenges, we’re committed to creating innovative solutions that empower freelancers and digital nomads across Nigeria and beyond,” Obiejesi shared.
With its innovative approach and dedication to serving its users, Sendbit is positioned to become a major player in the Nigerian fintech industry, helping freelancers and digital nomads overcome the barriers of international payments.
