Odedeji urges leaders to be proactive, sensitive to people’s plight
The Diocesan Bishop of Lagos West, Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion), James Odedeji, has urged leaders to be proactive and sensitive to Nigerians’ plight by propounding theories that will help the citizens to develop.
The bishop, who stated this, while fielding questions from The Guardian Correspondent shortly after his sermon on Christmas Day at the Archbishop Vining Memorial Cathedral in Ikeja, Lagos, said that as leaders, they should be able to think ahead of the people.
“The leaders should be proactive and sensitive to the plight of Nigerians. They should propound theories that will help the citizens. They should be able to think ahead of the people.
“They have been elected based on trust and that trust must not be abused,” he said. Odedeji, while admonishing Christians not to lose hope but firmly believe that they would be saved by grace and not by works, urged them to allow Jesus Christ to be born in their lives.
He said: “What do we do at this Christmas? Let Christ be born in us. The best way to celebrate Christmas is by giving one’s life to Jesus. We must be ready to change our thinking to what befits Christ. Be not conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of one’s mind.”
