With this development, Ogboru will be having his sixth straight attempt to become the governor of Delta since 1999.
Ogboru was returned unopposed at the election on Sunday evening at PTI Conference Centre, Effurun, Delta State, after polling 618 votes out of the 625 total votes cast.
The five-man electoral committee, headed by Elder Enemokwu Afamefune, said the committee accredited 625 delegates across the state with seven invalid votes.
Afamefune, who also doubles as the state Chairman of APGA, declared Ogboru as the winner, having polled the majority of the votes cast.
Ogboru, who spoke shortly after he was declared winner, thanked the Delta people for standing by him, saying: “We have been on a very long journey but whatever has a beginning must surely have an end.
“We are at the determinant stage of the long journey and what we started so many years ago must come to an end with shout of joy. If there will be a proper election in Delta state, then we are sure of winning.”
