Dr. Princess Oghene has formally declared her intention to contest for the position of Public Relations Secretary of the US Government Exchange Alumni Association of Nigeria (USGEAAN), outlining a campaign focused on strategic communication, alumni visibility, and institutional partnerships.
In a statement issued by her Chief Press Secretary, Bolatito Adebola, Oghene said her candidacy is grounded in years of experience in branding, youth empowerment, and media advocacy. She cited her leadership in platforms such as the GAH Awards and GAH Elite Magazine as evidence of her capacity to amplify the association’s profile both nationally and internationally.
“I will position USGEAAN alumni as thought leaders and nation builders through elite storytelling and targeted media features,” she said.
The statement outlined her PR agenda built on three key areas: enhancing visibility for all members, building strategic brand partnerships, and improving internal communication systems. According to Bolatito, Oghene’s approach seeks to connect alumni across sectors and generations through more coordinated and high-impact communication.
Oghene, a fashion entrepreneur and author, also referenced her track record of training over 12,000 women and youths through the GMYT Fashion Academy, and awarding more than 7,000 changemakers via the GAH Awards. She has published nine books, including *Against All Odds: Global GAH Chronicles.
In the past year, she has hosted over 100 women at the International Women’s Day Business Summit and organised the GAH Elite Tennis Tournament, with corporate support from companies including Air Peace and SPAR.
“I’m not a politician,” Oghene said. “I’m a strategic communicator with platforms that have shaped culture, media, and visibility. This is a campaign grounded in performance.”
Oghene’s declaration adds to the growing list of candidates vying for leadership positions in the alumni association, which is made up of Nigerians who have participated in U.S. government-sponsored exchange programmes.
Elections into USGEAAN’s national executive committee are expected to be held later this year.
