Odogbolu Local Council in Ogun State, in partnership with Detola Abike Mogaji Memorial Foundation (DAMMF) and Havas Nigeria, has planned to train about 50 youths on employability and job creation skills.
Chairman of the council, Ladejobi Shuaib, who spoke during the training, represented by the Vice Chairman, Ireti Adenugba, said the initiative was in addition to the capacity-building landscape, aimed at training and engaging beneficiaries in the customer relationship and financial management sector, as well as providing banking services to the unbanked.
He said that after the training, successful trainees would be certified and eligible to work under probation for financial institutions with the opportunity to get promoted to become a full staff.
He encouraged the youths to take up the opportunity as a step towards getting better, especially by acquiring the required skills to survive in today’s world.
He also reiterated the council’s commitment to partner with more private sector operators to create wealth, empower and strengthen skills of youths in the area.
Meanwhile, founder of DAMMF, Mogaji Olatunde, said the scheme would benefit youths in the council and bridge the significant skills gaps in Nigeria.
Also, Director, Operations, Havas Nigeria, Mr. Dare Oyegbola, said: “It is our belief that initiative like this will make the youths more employable in today’s work space, foster financial inclusion and entrepreneurial opportunities for young people in Odogbolu Local Council. This initiative will create an environment that will enable the youths to improve communication skills.”
