An Osun State gubernatorial aspirant, Dr. Akin Ogunbiyi, who was a contestant for the ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) with Ademola Adeleke before withdrawing a day to the primary and alleged planned rigging and bias by the party leadership, yesterday, formally declared interest to pursue his governorship ambition under the Accord Party (AP).
Ogunbiyi, while addressing supporters of the party that thronged the Freedom Park in Osogbo, reeled out what he would do differently if voted to govern the state, stressing that he would achieve great success despite problematic circumstances.
He said he defected to AP to contest the top job because he desired to create sustainable impact and responsible governance in every dimension of the life of the people, adding: “I have been treated unfairly, cheated against and even blatantly robbed, all in my desire to passionately serve my fellow citizens who I dearly love and cherish.”
He, therefore, warned residents of the state against collecting money to vote during elections, saying that he offered himself to bring wealth to them when elected as governor.
“I have solved problems for big enterprises and conglomerates. I have helped to drive growth and prosperity for state governments and even nations. Why will I not serve my own people with the talents and experience the Almighty God has gracefully endowed me with? I am a true and proud son of lleogbo in Ayedire Local Council of Osun State. I was born in this state and had my foundational education here. Riches do not fascinate me. I believe in wealth creation, creating impact in a leveraged way. That is, earning very high returns and functioning at a high capacity when utilising resources and facilities,” he said.
