Ohanaeze Ndigbo urges calm, patience, mobilises support for Atiku/Obi
• Buhari deserves second chance, says Benue youth group
National President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo youth wing worldwide, Arthur Uchenna Obiorah, has urged Igbo youths to remain calm and persevere until they fulfill their electoral mandate.
He urged the over 20 million eligible Igbo youths to vote for Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Atiku Abubakar and his running mate, Peter Obi.
Obiorah, who spoke in a telehpone interview yesterday in Awka, advised Igbo youths to remain resolute and exercise patience to realise the demands of Ime-Obi Ohanaeze Ndigbo worldwide’s demand to vote out the All Progressives Congress (APC), which has inflicted sufferings on Nigerians for the past three and half years.
He disclosed that the socio-cultural organisation has mobilised over 20 million Igbo youths to realise their dream of Atiku/Obi ticket in the rescheduled election, with the hope of delivering Ohanaeze Ndigbo worldwide’s mandate.
He decried the postponement and rescheduling of the Presidential and National Assembly polls, saying the shift was uncalled for as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had assured the world that everything was ready to conduct the elections.
However, the Tiv Youths Council (TYC) has said after an overview appraisal of the performance of President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration, they found him worthy of a second chance in office.
Its President, Mike Msuaan, who spoke at a media briefing yesterday in Makurdi, the Benue State capital, urged Nigerians to be their brothers’ keeper by avoiding inciting speeches before, during and after the reschedule elections so as not to cause confusion and chaos in the country.
“To this end, we have mandated all the 23 local government areas coordinators and zonal officers in Benue to commence mobilisation for Buhari’s re-election on Saturday,” he said.
