The Alliance for Democracy (AD) governorship candidate in next Saturday’s election in Ondo State, Chief Olusola Oke, has dispelled rumours of his arrest by the military for gun-running, pointing out that it was a cheap political cheap blackmail to tarnish his reputation.

Oke said this while reacting to his alleged arrest by the military and accused the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) of being the sponsor of the rumour, adding that the campaign of calumny peddled against him has only made him more popular.

The rumour spread like wildfire yesterday that the 19 Battalion of the Nigeria Army arrested him in Okitipupa and that he allegedly made moves to bribe the military with N10 million.

But Oke, who spoke through his media aide, Kolawole Olabisi, insisted that he was not arrested at any time by either the military of any other law enforcement agent, but has been so busy with his campaign tours across the state, canvassing for votes from the people since his formal declaration for the post.
