Primate of the Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, Dr. Nicholas Okoh has commended Bishop of Lagos West, Dr. James Olusola Odedeji for his fruitfulness and steadfastness in ministry.

Okoh who spoke to journalists at the thanksgiving service held at Archbishop Vining Memorial Church Cathedral, GRA, Ikeja, Lagos, at the weekend to mark Odedeji’s 50th birthday and 30 years in Ministry, urged the celebrant to be fervent in prayer, stressing there will be challenges of different types ahead.

Assessing the celebrant’s 30 years in ministry, Okoh said Odedeji has never wavered and charged him to hold on to Jesus whom he described as the way, the truth and life. He cited some of the pitfalls in ministry such as lust of the eyes and of the flesh as well as pride of life and charged the celebrant to avoid them. He also mentioned tribalism and enjoined every minister of God to allow the Bible be their standard.

Odedeji while thanking God for His faithfulness recalled how God saved him from a ghastly car accident 10 years ago, noting, “I have come to pay my vows to God today.”

He also thanked head of the church, Rev. Nicholas Okoh and his wife, for honouring his invitation as well as the 75 Bishops and other dignitaries in attendance.
