Okowa stated this at the weekend while responding to allegations that his administration failed to reconstruct failed portions of federal roads. The governor spoke at the 40th memorial thanksgiving service for William Agadioma, father of the Secretary to the Delta State Government (SSG), Festus Ovie Agas at Ughelli.
According to him: “Bad road is not peculiar to Delta State, most of the federal roads nationwide are in poor condition. I believe there should be a policy by the Federal Government to maintain the roads. If this is not done, the problem will persist.”
He said most times the state governments were stopped by agencies of the Federal Government from repairing such roads. The governor used the occasion to condole with the families of the school principals who died in an auto accident on the Benin/Warri expressway, assuring that his administration would repair the failed portion of the road where the crash occurred.
