The newly appointed Commissioner of Police, Police Special Fraud Unit (PSFU) Lagos, Eloho Okpoziakpo, has called on officers under his command to uphold professionalism, discipline and strict adherence to the rule of law.
Speaking during his maiden address at the unit’s headquarters in Ikoyi on Tuesday, CP Okpoziakpo set out his priorities following his appointment as the 34th commissioner of the PSFU in Lagos.
He warned that misconduct or lapses in professional standards would not be tolerated, stressing that discipline remains central to the operations of the Nigeria Police Force.
“Professionalism, respect for human dignity and strict adherence to the rule of law must define our conduct at all times,” he said, urging officers to treat members of the public with courtesy and respect.
Okpoziakpo also appealed to Nigerians to support law enforcement efforts, particularly in tackling financial crimes, by providing timely and credible information.
“We must see ourselves as partners in maintaining law and order,” he said, adding that public cooperation remains essential to effective policing.
The commissioner emphasised that accountability and transparency would underpin his leadership, noting that internal monitoring mechanisms would be strengthened to ensure operations remain intelligence-driven and compliant with legal standards.
He further assured that the unit would remain focused on its core mandate of combating fraud and protecting economic activities, pledging that offenders would be prosecuted without bias.
In aligning with ongoing reforms within the force, Okpoziakpo expressed appreciation to the Inspector-General of Police, Tunji Disu, for the confidence reposed in him.
He said the PSFU under his leadership would prioritise efficiency, responsiveness and integrity in handling complex financial crimes, with the aim of reinforcing public trust in the unit’s operations.
