Olokun Festival acquires permanent site for 2025 celebration

The Olokun Festival Foundation (OFF) has unveiled a new beach and festival site named Kakanfo Falola Beach, marking a major step in transforming the annual Olokun celebration into a global tourism event.

The Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland and Chief Promoter of the Olokun Festival Foundation (OFF), Iba Gani Adams, made the announcement on Monday at a press conference held at the Oodua House in Ikeja, Lagos.

He noted that this year’s festival, which began today with a press conference, will end on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, at the newly acquired beach.

Giving details about the site, Adams, who was represented by the Director of Communications for the Olokun Festival Foundation (OFF), Yinka Oguntimehin, said that the Kakanfo Falola Beach will have recreational facilities, a hotel, a mini cinema, a conference hall, gym centres, an Olympic-size swimming pool, a mini festival stadium, and courts for other sports such as lawn tennis and table tennis, as well as a pitch where beach soccer can be played.
“This new beach site will have all the facilities that will qualify it as a world-class tourism destination,” he stated.

He said that the beach is designed to attract visitors beyond Nigeria, targeting tourists from across West Africa — including Côte d’Ivoire, Senegal, Gambia, Togo, Ghana — as well as from Brazil, the Caribbean countries, and other parts of the continents.

While highlighting the benefits of the festival, he noted that beyond attracting tourists to the festival site and nearby communities, the event holds immense spiritual and economic value.
“Aside from the direct benefits that come with tourists visiting the festival site, its environs, and adjoining towns, the spiritual and economic gains of organising the festival are many,” he stressed.

He said that the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mrs Toke Benson-Awoyinka, and over 50,000 others as guests expected at the grand finale.
