Otun Olubadan of Ibadanland and former Governor of Oyo State, Rashidi Ladoja, has yielded to pressure from fellow high chiefs and prominent figures of Ibadanland to end the discord with members of Olubadan Advisory Council, led by Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Lekan Balogun.
Ladoja, in a symbolic gesture, arrived at Oba Balogun’s Alarere residence at 11:48 a.m., yesterday, for the Advisory Council meeting in his black Toyota Land Cruiser Jeep with registration number BDJ 123 AS.
It was gathered that Ladoja’s attendance was the result of a series of deliberations with fellow high chiefs, who viewed his absence from the council meetings as a hindrance to Ibadan’s progress.
The high chiefs argued that time had come to unite for the greater good of Ibadanland. The media aide to the monarch, Mr. Oladele Ogunsola, confirmed to The Guardian that the Ibadan monarchs held a meeting at the Alerere residence of Oba Balogun.
He said: “Yes, they just finished the meeting”. Present at the meeting were the Balogun of Ibadanland, Oba Owolabi Olakulehim; the Otun Balogun, Oba Tajudeen Ajibola Abimbola; the Osi Olubadan, Oba Eddy Oyewole; the Osi Balogun, Oba Lateef Adebimpe; the Asipa Balogun, Oba Kolawole Adegbola; the Asipa Olubadan, Oba Biodun Kola Daisi; the Ekerin Balogun, Oba John Isioye Dada; the Ekerin Olubadan, Oba Amidu Ajibade; the Ekaarun Balogun, Oba Abiodun Agadagudu, and the Ekaarun Olubadan Oba Akande.
Ladoja had not attended council meetings since the installation of the nine high chiefs of Ibadanland as obas. Additionally, the newly installed Obas had maintained their stance against Ladoja’s attendance at their meetings.
