The Oluwo of Iwoland, HIM Oba Abdulrosheed Adewale Akanbi, has commended the Chairman of the Police Service Commission, DIG Hashimu Argungu (retd), for his administrative reforms of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF).
Akanbi stated that Argungu’s reformative skills have motivated many Nigerians to join the police force.He disclosed that the improved leadership tempo of the commission is a product of an experienced and sagacious administrative prowess of Argungu’s dedication to excellence, noting that Argungu’s leadership will convince Nigerians and turn the force to the envy of the world. Oluwo made the commendation during his visit to the office of PSC Chairman in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory.
While commending the commission for ensuring timely promotion of police officers, he appealed to the Federal Government to recruit more personnel to strengthen the security architecture of the nation.
He extolled Argungu and his team, most especially DIG Taiwo Lakanu, Justice Paul. Galumje JSC (retd) and Chief Onyemuche Nnamani, for restoring discipline and sanity as reflected in the professional conduct of policemen. He extended his commendation to the men and women of the force who sacrificed their families to protect others.
A statement released by Oluwo shortly after the visit and made available to newsmen in Abuja through his Press Secretary, Alli Ibraheem, reads: ” While commending the men and women of the Nigerian Police Force for their services to the nation, I must specially commend the Chairman of the Police Service Commission, DIG Hashimu Argungu, for reforming the commission.
“Argungu has convincingly restored discipline and sanity into the force through his administrative experience as a meritoriously retired Deputy Inspector General of Police. He has improved the administrative tempo of the commission to the envy of others. Under your leadership, police officers are promoted as at when due. Just this week, many ranks were elevated across the board. You have motivated many Nigerians to join the force.
“Equally, I am appealing to the Federal Government led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to recruit more people into the force to strengthen Nigeria’s security architecture. The appointment of capable individuals as service chiefs has reflected in an enhanced security of Nigeria.” Oluwo pleaded for the consideration of Iwoland sons and daughters in the next recruitment exercise of the force. In his response, Argungu appreciated Oluwo’s visit, his security concern and promised to make the NPF the envy of other nations.
