Some leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State have exonerated the party’s National Leader Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the state chairman, Mr. Isaac Kekemeke from allegations of imposing candidates in the forthcoming party primary election.

The Akoko Elders Assembly in a statement issued at a press conference in Akure yesterday by the Women Leader of Akure South Council of APC, Mrs. Titilope Oparinde, reiterated their support for the two leaders of the party.

The chairman of the elders forum, Chief Felix Ayegbusi said the action was taken to ensure the party produce a viable candidate for the area. According to the forum, which comprises the four councils in Akoko, “There is a mischievous campaign in circulation saying that the advisory decision of our leaders amounts to an imposition. We are here to disabuse the minds of our members, particularly our delegates of this.”

“Nobody has imposed anybody. No individual, leader or group will do so or can even do so. We reject imposition totally but we welcome the advice that comes from the wisdom of our leaders”.

“Let our delegates rest assured that nothing has happened to abridge their rights to vote for the aspirant of their choice at the primary election,” Ayegbusi stated.
