Ondo government launches digital village project

To eliminate digital illiteracy in Ondo State, the state government through its Ondo State Information Technology Agency (SITA), has launched Digital Village Project, empowering 48 beneficiaries to kick off the training.

Chairman of the agency, Olumbe Akinkugbe, disclosed this during a media interaction at the official launch at Ondo and Uso towns, adding that the free digital village project would revolutionize ICT in the state.

Akinkugbe noted that the pilot programme was started from Uso, in Owo LGA and Ondo, the headquarters of Ondo West LGA, spreading to other 16 council areas of the state. He said the Digital Village Project would serve as training centre for young school leavers and fresh graduates, preparing them for the 21st century ICT demands and to acquire entrepreneurial skills.

According to him, the village is empowered with laptops, systems, Internet, data, 24 hours power supply and other equipment as well as seasoned resource persons who will train them.
