• Ilaje leaders rally support for Aiyedatiwa
• PDP ex-Reps’ member, Olemija, defects to APC
A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, yesterday, said that massive votes and support in the forthcoming governorship election in Ondo State would shock the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and other opposition parties in the state
Oyintiloye, who is a member of the APC National Campaign Stakeholders Engagement Committee for the election, said this while speaking with journalists in Osogbo, Osun State capital.
He said that the November 16 election would not be an exception, as APC is poised to record a landslide victory.
Oyintiloye further noted that the party’s candidate and incumbent state governor, Lucky Ayedatiwa, had achieved a lot through his people-oriented policies and programmes, stressing that Ondo had recorded steady transformation in health, among others, under his leadership.
He, however, appealed to the electorate to be peaceful and orderly before and after the election, just as he charged all political gladiators to abide by the rules of the game.
Meanwhile, the Ilaje Development Summit Group, a group championing the development of the oil-rich Ilaje Local Council of Ondo State, at the weekend, rallied support for Aiyedatiwa.
Executive Administrator of the group, Adesola Adebawo, who emphasised the significance of electing a knowledgeable leader, urged the people to vote en masse for Aiyedatiwa at the poll.
He appealed at the 2024 political summit held in Igbokoda, headquarters of Ilaje Local Council, stressing the need to harness the untapped resources of the riverine communities for the overall advancement of the area.
However, a former House of Representatives member for Akoko North East/North West Federal Constituency, Stephen Olemija, at the weekend, defected to the APC ahead of the governorship poll in the state.
Aiyedatiwa, who received the PDP chieftain into the APC fold along with another opposition leader, Mufu Momoh, during a campaign tour of the council, described the support received in the communities as a testament to the positive impact his administration had.
The governor, alongside his deputy and running mate, OlayideAdelami, also visited Iboropa, Akunnu, and IkareAkoko, addressing residents and engaging with traditional rulers.
He also received royal blessings from the Olukare of Ikare-Akoko, Oba Akadiri Momoh, and the Owa-Ale of Iyometa.
