It was learnt that a suspected cultist identified simply as Abiodun shot a member of a rival group called Yusuf, who got married recently and whose wife was pregnant, over a disagreement.
Abiodun was said to have immediately fled the area to escape a likely reprisal attack.
The situation became intense when the deceased’s group stormed the residents of the suspect at Gana compound, Pakata with guns, cutlasses and other dangerous weapons to avenge his death.
“When the gang came, they started shooting and people were running helter skelter. They later invaded the compound and macheted family members they sighted, leaving many injured,” a witness said.
When contacted, spokesperson for the state police Command, DSP Toun Ejire-Adeyemi confirmed the incident and said that investigation was ongoing.
