Onu highlights economic potential of methanol technology
Minister of Science, Technology, and Innovation, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu, at the weekend, hinted that methanol technology, when fully embraced, would create more jobs and wealth for Nigerians.
During an awareness in Enugu, the minister explained that methanol fuel was an alternative bio-fuel for internal combustion and other engines, aside from its being less expensive to produce sustainably.
He said: “The sensitisation exercise is to make Nigerians understand the benefits of methanol fuel in the country, as it will help to generate over 40 million new jobs and create more wealth for the country.”
Onu said methanol is a fuel with a lower risk of flammability compared to gasoline and other products, stating that its full deployment would add more value to the nation’s natural resources.
