As part of efforts to ensure diversification in the Nigerian economy, the Federal Government would invest significant amount of money in science and technology.
This was disclosed at the weekend by the Minister of Science and Technology, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu at the National Centre for Remote Sensing (NCRS) in Jos East Local Council area of Plateau state.
According to him, the reason is to enable researchers to engage in research activities without financial hindrances.
The minister explained that President Muhammadu Buhari has promised to invest a lot in all science-orientated agencies and departments, particularly those under the ministry of science and technology, in order to improve their routine activities.
Onu said his visit to the centre was to see things for himself and seek collaboration among the agencies under the National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA).
He assured the staff that the ministry would support them, adding that he had to visit the agency because of its immense contributions to national development.
