Air Peace boss Allen Onyema has hit out at the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) for disrupting the operations of the airline.

The NLC and TUC disrupted the Air Peace’s operations on Wednesday, the same day that it was in the thick of airlifting Nigerians evacuated from Sudan, an action Onyema condemned as insensitive.

“You can imagine how I felt while I was out there trying to rescue Nigerians, the Nigerian Labour Congress and TUC went disrupting every Air Peace flight across the country,” Onyema said on Arise TV

“We are losing over N700 million as a result of that. For somebody who has contributed so much to the nation, on a day like this.”

“This is so insensitive of the NLC and TUC. They chose today to disrupt our operations for something that does not even concern Air Peace.

“Something should happen because we are not going to let this go, we must recover all we have lost today, we must recover it. If something is not done, this country is a joke ”

Onyema had earlier on Wednesday confirmed that his airline had already landed in Egypt to airlift stranded Nigerian citizens who had to leave war-torn Sudan.

The chairman of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), Abike Dabiri-Erewa also confirmed that Air Peace was in Egypt to help return all the Nigerian evacuees from Sudan back to the country.

Onyema had said on April 24 that he was willing to evacuate Nigerians stranded in Sudan. He said in a statement that Nigerian students and others stranded in war-ravaged Sudan have urgent “needs for our help.
