Organisations train journalists, youths on girl-child education, elections

The 20-year-old Malala, who was accompanied by her father, Yousafzai and other members of the Malala Foundation, arrived at the presidential villa.

Addressing a training, yesterday, in Yola, Adamawa State, a representative, Chisom Ihekwaba, stressed that education is a human right.

She said the workshop was to boost knowledge of reporters on children rights under the domestic and international jurisprudence, as well as foster gender transformative education.

“Empowering girls and prompting gender equality start with education. When we invest in girl education, we invest in the future,” she observed.
In another development, Global Peace Development (GPD) has begun training of youths in Adamawa State for peaceful 2023 general elections.

The Executive Director, Ebruke Esike, said the training is geared at preparing the young Nigerians at changing narratives of elections from violence to being peaceful.

“The target of this training is to ensure that youths will no longer become tools for political violence, but rather tools for transformation.”\

It is a pilot project that the British Council is supporting in Nigeria, purposely to give Nigerian youths a strong voice and visibility in democracy and governance process,” he explained.
