OrtomIn the spirit of the New Year, Governor Samuel Ortom, has approved the release of five inmates, who have been serving various jail terms, from the Gboko Prison.

Those released are John Anyam, Dickson Ako, Terngu Agum, Aondonengen Msughve and Iorfa Mbakighir.
According to a statement signed by the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Odeh Ageh, Ortom’s approval of the release of the inmates followed the recommendation by the Benue State Advisory Council on the Prerogative of Mercy.

He said Ortom also assured that the state would overcome its current challenges and move to the next level of development in 2016, adding that the governor felicitated with the people on the occasion of the New Year and reassured that a new Benue is being born because the initiatives of his administration are designed to serve as pillars of development now and in the years to come.

According to Ageh, “The governor joins the good people of the state in thanking God Almighty, who has brought Benue this far, and for continually bestowing His Grace upon His people and for guiding the state safely through all the challenges of 2015. The steps his administration is taking to reposition the state through good governance, revenue security, agriculture-driven industrialization, quality education and health and provision of other critical infrastructure will help in securing the future for the state.”
