
Oshoniyi reiterated this at the event titled Schools Education and Literacy Conference held at Anwar-Ud-Deen College, Isolo.
Oshoniyi, who was represented by the President-Elect, Rotarian Abmbola Oseni, said the programme was also held in commemoration of world literacy day.
“We held the first phase of the programme for primary schools last Wednesday where there was a competition between Gbeleyi Primary School and Ansar-Ud-Deen Primary School and here we are today with not less than eight secondary schools logging heads together in another competition.
“We have arranged this competition to tell the participating schools the importance of education.
“With the cream of resource persons that admonished them today, including Acting Vice-Chancellor, Atiba University, Oyo State, Prof. Wasiu Babalola, who is also an Assistant Governor, Rotary International, District 9110, Director-General, Eternal Care Foundation, Rotarian Olabode Garbadeen; Youth Service Chair, Rotary Club of Isolo, Rotarian Tokunboh Allison and the Special Adviser to the Governor on Education, Barrister Tokunboh Philip Wahab, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary in his office, Kasali Adeniran Waheed, among others, the importance of education has been made known to the students more than what they knew before and the purpose of this programme achieved,” he said.
Barrister Wahab reiterated the determination of Lagos State Governor, Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu not to renege from the well-structured education in the state aimed at pursuing vigorously its three dimensions which include accessibility, quality and relevance.
He added that digitalised library with a computer system, modern furniture and a very conducive environment has been put in place in Lagos which is considered a mega city.
