Oshun pledges continuous advocacy for constituents
He disclosed this to The Guardian during a meeting with his constituents at Rowe Park, Yaba, Lagos State.
“Far into the future, I will always remember the trust you reposed in me to represent you. I will continue to advocate for you in whatever capacity I can, as when we stand together, our voice can and will be heard, and positive result will be achieved,” he said.
The lawmaker, whose watchword to the electorate is “shun rulers for representatives,” explained that the aim of the gathering, which takes place regularly, was to hear from his people and take their wishes back to the house.
Congratulating Nigerians for the presidential results announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), which favoured the APC, Oshun said it “simply shows that we appreciate good things.”
He told The Guardian: “My relationship with the people is that of servant and master; I am the servant and they are the master. You can’t serve people if you don’t know their problem.
“At least, three times a year, I try to engage my people, to enlighten them about what is happening in government, to enable them relate well and open up on what they want.
“Lagosians appreciate good governance. We have shown beyond reasonable doubts that we are capable as a party, as people, to represent them and make sure they get democracy.
“We just want to implore Lagosians to continue to have confidence us, and to make sure they vote for APC in subsequent elections. We will continue to serve them and take Lagos to the next level.”
