Vice President Yemi Osinbajo’s support base is on the upward scale, considering the turnout of followers when he visited Nasarawa State on Wednesday, as he continued his consultation and engagement with delegates and other stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

This was as Governor Abdullahi Sule and the Emir of Lafia, Rtd Justice Sidi Bage Muhammad I, commended his leadership qualities, describing him as the best among the aspirants to become Nigeria’s next president.

According to a statement, yesterday, by the Senior Special Assistant to the Vice President on Media and Publicity, Laolu Akande, the number two citizen also delivered the keynote address at the inaugural Nasarawa Investment Summit, themed ‘Diamond in the Rough: The Making of a New Investment Frontier’.

He was received in the state by the governor, the APC National Chairman, Sen. Abdullahi Adamu and other state government officials, with pomp and ceremony.

In their remarks, the governor and the monarch praised Osinbajo, with the Emir recalling the VP’s title of Madugun Jihar Nasarawa (the Captain/Leader of Nasarawa).

According to the monarch, the best should be put in positions of leadership, adding that Osinbajo is the best.

“I wish you all the best. For us here, the little we can do is to put you in our prayers for the best to come out of you,” he said.

Governor Sule noted the VP as the best person to lead Nigeria as president from 2023, among the several aspirants that declared their intention to vie for the position.

“Your Excellency, we strongly believe in you. For that reason, we pray for you. We pray that good things will be done for you,” Sule added.

While interacting with the APC delegates in the state, Osinbajo restated that his decision to run for president was because he wanted to give the best of his service to Nigeria.

He addressed various issues raised by the delegates, including restoring the confidence of ordinary Nigerians in the judiciary and the representation of women in government.

“I think that any country that wants to take itself seriously cannot afford to ignore half of its population; about half of our population are women. God helping us, if I am president of this country, there is no question in my mind that women will play very active roles,” Osinbajo stated.

Earlier at the inaugural Nasarawa Investment Summit, the Vice President noted that states must explore concrete ways of collaboration with the Federal Government and private sector to further boost and harness their investment potential.

The VP pointed out the “strong public-private partnership models being promoted by Nasarawa Investment and Development Agency (NASIDA), so the private sector is able to bring resources, expertise and motivation to the table, to fill in capacity and resource gaps on the part of the government.”
