…Over Alleged Misuse of N1trn Revenue Proceeds

The Osun State All Progressives Congress (APC) Governorship Campaign Council has hinted at a possible probe of Governor Ademola Adeleke’s administration over the alleged mismanagement of more than N1 trillion in revenue allegedly accrued to the state since he assumed office if he is defeated at the poll.

The council also said Adeleke would be required to account for the management of other funds received by the state, including N2 billion in Federal Government grants reportedly released in 2023 for the procurement of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) buses and N17 billion in ecological funds allegedly received in 2024 and 2025.

The APC campaign council dropped the hint in a statement signed by its Director General, Hon. Oluwole Oke, on Tuesday, while reacting to Adeleke’s recent remarks against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The council accused the governor of making “reckless, inflammatory and seditious remarks” against Tinubu during a campaign outing on Monday, including a warning that a repeat of the 1983 political crisis could occur in Osun if he loses the August 15 governorship election.

It also faulted Adeleke’s allegation that the Federal Government had withheld statutory allocations meant for the state’s 30 local government areas.

The APC council described the allegation as false and misleading, insisting that legally recognised local government administrations in Osun receive their statutory federal allocations.

The council said Adeleke’s comments were a sign of desperation ahead of the election, alleging that the governor was attempting to divert attention from what it described as the shortcomings of his administration.

It further accused the governor of failing to provide adequate explanations on the management of public funds.

“Governor Adeleke will account for the diversion of the ₦2 billion Federal Government grant released in 2023 for the procurement of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) buses to improve public transportation in Osun State,” the statement alleged.

“Similarly, he will explain how his government stole the ₦17 billion ecological funds received by the state in 2024 and 2025, as well as the management of the over ₦1 trillion revenue that accrued to the state under his administration.”

The allegations were made by the APC campaign council and were not independently established in the statement.

The council also alleged that more than 30 APC members and supporters had been killed in Osun since 2022, with at least 10 of the deaths occurring recently.

It accused the Adeleke administration of shielding individuals allegedly linked to political violence, while faulting the governor for portraying himself as a victim of political intimidation.

The campaign council urged Adeleke to prepare to accept the outcome of the August 15 election, insisting that the APC candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO), enjoys the support of Osun voters.

It said any future administration would be expected to ensure that public funds are properly accounted for in accordance with the law.

“Every kobo belonging to the people must be accounted for in accordance with the law,” the council said.
