Retirees in Osun State yesterday protested in Osogbo against non-payment of 13 months pension arrears and other outstanding entitlement owed by the state government.

Armed with placards with various inscriptions as, EFCC Should Probe Rauf Aregbesola; Retirees Are Dying; Pension, Gratuity Is Our Right; Pay Us Our Entitlements and Denying Us Our Entitlements Is Wickedness, among others, they said the All Progressives Congress (APC)- led government in the state made life miserable for them.

Chairman of Forum of 2011/2012 Pensioners, Yemi Lawal, noted that Osun State retirees were the most traumatised in the country.

He accused Governor Adegboyega Oyetola of abandoning them, while they continue to wallow in poverty.

But reacting to the development, Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Adeniyi Adesina, said the state government placed top priority on serving and retired workers, adding that once funds are available, they would be paid their entitlements.
