Otedola to publish memoir on business, setbacks, success

Nigerian billionaire and industrialist, Femi Otedola, is set to release a memoir chronicling his decades-long journey in business, with sources close to him confirming that preparations for publication are in advanced stages.

Although details such as the title, release date, and publisher have not been made public, Otedola offered a strong indication of the book’s imminent release on Wednesday via a post on his verified X account.

“Over the past decade, doors have opened for entrepreneurs in Nigeria that once seemed firmly shut,” he wrote. “This transformation didn’t happen overnight. It’s the result of perseverance, resilience, and the lessons learned from countless setbacks.”

Reflecting on his personal journey, the 62-year-old businessman noted: “I’ve walked this path myself, facing challenges and breakthroughs that shaped not just my career but my outlook on what it means to succeed. In the coming weeks, you will be learning about these experiences and my journey to becoming one of Africa’s most successful businessmen.”

He added that the upcoming publication would offer insights aimed at inspiring younger generations: “I hope these insights will inspire the next generation of entrepreneurs. I will be sharing something very exciting in the coming days.”

Otedola, who has played significant roles in Nigeria’s energy and financial sectors, is widely known for his leadership at Zenon Petroleum and Gas Ltd and his past majority shareholding in Forte Oil Plc (now Ardova Plc).

In recent years, his focus has shifted to the power and finance industries, including his strategic investment in Geregu Power Plc and board leadership at First Bank of Nigeria Holdings.

Beyond his corporate ventures, Otedola is recognised for his philanthropic support to causes in education, healthcare, and youth development.
