Cross River State Governor, Senator Bassey Otu, has formally sworn in Dr. (Mrs.) Glory Effiong as the new Accountant General and Surv. Patrick Edet Bassey as the Surveyor General of the state.
Speaking at the swearing-in ceremony held in Calabar, Governor Otu reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to appointing individuals who are “tested, trusted, and committed to excellence.”
He praised the newly appointed officials for their integrity, competence, and dedication demonstrated in previous roles.
“These offices come with enormous responsibility,” Otu stated.
“For the Surveyor General, we are entering a more demanding era in land administration, and I am confident we will overcome any challenges ahead. As for the Accountant General, we anticipate increased revenue inflow into the state.
“The financial future of Cross River is bright, and with your expertise, we will consolidate and grow our economic gains. The results of our efforts are already evident. Let the critics speak—we know the direction we are heading is the right one.”
The Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Anthony Owan Enoh, also commended the appointees, describing them as capable professionals who had already begun making meaningful contributions even before their official confirmation. He expressed optimism about the state’s future under their stewardship.
In her acceptance remarks, Dr. Glory Effiong expressed gratitude to the governor for the confidence reposed in her and pledged to improve the transparency and efficiency of public financial management in the state.
“I have learned a lot working closely with His Excellency in recent times. Alongside my colleague, we are committed to raising the bar in service delivery and contributing meaningfully to the People First administration,” she said.
Both officials reaffirmed their dedication to the development of Cross River State and their resolve to uphold the values and vision of the current administration.
