No fewer than 20,000 people have benefitted from the Ondo State Government’s Maternal/Child Health Scheme, while 1,450 out of 5,000 babies were born through Caesarian Section (CS) within two years.

Director-General of Ondo State Contributory Health Commission, Dr. Abiodun Oyeneyin, disclosed that 20,000 people in the state benefited from the Mother and Child Health Scheme, known as ‘Abiyamo’, from 2019 to 2021.

Oyeneyin made the disclosure on Friday during a courtesy visit to the Special Adviser on Health Matters to the Governor, Prof. Francis Faduyile, in Akure.

He said the health insurance scheme in the state was launched in 2018 and became functional in 2019, adding that the Abiyamo scheme, designed for pregnant women and under-five children, had saved many lives.
