Over 600 patients have benefited from a free medical and surgical outreach programme organised by Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, a former member of the House of Representatives for the Isuikwuato/Umunneochi constituency in Abia State.

The 2024 edition of the outreach, held in Amuda-Umuaku, Umunneochi Local Council, engaged approximately 80 medical professionals and support staff to provide various medical services.

The coordinator of the outreach, Dr Evuchaiwe Chimaobi, reported that patients received treatment for various conditions, including hernia, typhoid, malaria, high blood pressure, diabetes, hepatitis, and breast cancer.

He encouraged people to undergo regular medical check-ups to prevent illnesses from reaching critical stages. Chimaobi also praised Onyejeocha for her continued commitment to this initiative and urged other Nigerians to follow her example.

Speaking to journalists, Onyejeocha emphasised the link between health and progress, stating, “There can’t be progress without good health. Those assisted and empowered have to be cared for health-wise to rescue them from poverty and undernourishment.”
