Fayemi’s ex-CoS seeks unity, support for APC
The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji, has assured traditional rulers in the state that his decision to vie for the governorship position is to reposition the state as well as join hands with the traditional institution to better the lots of the people.

Oyebanji, who stated this during an interface with the Ekiti Council of Traditional Rulers in Ado-Ekiti yesterday, acknowledged the importance of traditional institutions in modern governance.

The APC gubernatorial candidate said there would not have been anything like Ekiti State today that provides a platform for various developments if the traditional rulers were not there to give support during the struggle for creation of the state.

Oyebanji, therefore, assured the traditional rulers that he would accord them the necessary respect and make sure their interest and well-being are well protected if he becomes governor of Ekiti State.

In his remarks, Chairman of Ekiti State Council of Traditional Rulers and the Onisan of Isan-Ekiti, Oba Gabriel Ayodele Adejuwon, described Oyebanji as a thoroughbred and homegrown Ekiti man with a lot of experiences, garnered within and outside the government, which are needed to govern Ekiti.

The royal father prayed for his victory at the polls and advised politicians, especially people following Oyebanji, to be truthful and passionate in their resolve to lift Ekiti State without undermining the traditional institution.

He also urged Oyebanji to always strive to keep to his campaign promises when he assumes office.

RELATEDLY, former Chief of Staff (CoS) to Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Biodun Omoleye, has implored members of the party to unite ahead of the June 18, 2022 governorship election in the state.

Omoleye appealed to aggrieved leaders and members to sheathe their swords and put more efforts to ensure Oyebanji’s emergence as governor in the coming election.

The former CoS made the appeal yesterday in Ado-Ekiti at a media parley organised to drum support for Oyebanji, adding that the party needed to put its house in order to be in good position to take over after Fayemi leaves office on October 16.

Omoleye said that APC requires unity of purpose and collective efforts to win the election, stressing that “no disagreement should be allowed to become monstrous to the point of tearing the family apart.”
