Oyo NSCDC Nabs 8 Suspected Kidnappers
The Agro Rangers Squad of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Oyo State Command, has arrested eight suspected kidnappers terrorising Ado Awaye, Araromi Local Council Development Area, Okaka and Otu in Itesiwsju Local Council and Ilero in Iwa Local Council of Oyo State.
According to NSCDC State Commandant, Iskilu Akinsanya, the suspects were arrested after tipoff that some suspected kidnappers were spotted in a hotel at Oke Adeta, Iseyin.
Akinsanya said in the course of investigation, a suspect named Umaru Lawal was trailed to a hideout. Lawal, 25, claimed the telephone number, which was used to track him, belonged to his friend.
He said: “Interrogation revealed that some numbers were stored on his phone with different codes such as 52,42,33 etc. Umaru later agreed to help the corps in getting his friend.
“Names and identities of the suspects were giving as Umaru Lawal, (male) from Ado-Awaye; Umaru Saliu, 27, (male) from Ado-Awaye; Abase Musa, 30, (male) from Odo-Ogun Iseyin; Barika Idris, (male) from Ipapo Itesiwaju Local government; Abdulahi Kanti, 25, (male) from Odo-Ogun Iseyin; Boto Dengi, 30, (male) from Fasola Oyo; Fatimo Kiri, 8, (female) from Ilero, and Adiza Adamu, 20, (female) from Ilero, Iwa LCDA.”
Two red motorcycles with registration number, BDJ 580 UL and EGB 628 UF; seven phones and N32,510,00 were recovered from the suspects.
The Civil Defence Public Relations Officer, Oluwole Olusegun, who issued the statement on behalf of his boss, said the suspects would be handed over to the Anti-Kidnapping Squad of the state Police Command for further investigation and prosecution.
