The Oyo State Police Command has begun investigating the murder incident that occurred in Bodija, a suburb of Ibadan, the capital of the state, on Sunday.

The command’s police spokesperson, Osifeso Adewale, revealed this is a statement.

“The Oyo State Police Command has commenced immediate inquiry into the Bodija Murder incident that occurred during the early hours of today,02/02/25,”

He confirmed the death of the murder victim, who is yet to be identified, a few blocks away from Cocobean Lounge in Bodija during the early hours of Sunday.

According to Adewale, the victim of the gruesome murder was chased and shot dead.

Following the incident, police operatives were deployed to the area to maintain law and order and return normalcy to the area.

The police spokesperson added that the murder case has been transferred to the homicidal section of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Iyaganku for swift attention.

“In furtherance of the above, the case has since been referred to the Homicidal section of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) Iyaganku with a Deputy Commissioner of Police leading the investigation directed by the Commissioner of Police, Oyo State Police Command, CP Sonubi Ayodele,psc.,” said Adewale.

He further noted that further details about the investigation will be communicated as they unfold.
