Oyo State House of Assembly yesterday held a public hearing of stakeholders on the State, Local Government Joint Account (Distribution) Bill in consideration for further amendment to enhance efficiency of local councils.

The public hearing was held at Western Hall, House of Assembly Complex, Ibadan, the state capital.

Deputy Speaker of the House, Abdulwasi Musah, who is the ad-hoc chairman of the exercise, said the bill intended to make provision for adequate payment of entitlement of retired primary school teachers in the state in terms of prompt payment of pensions and gratuities.

Also, Musah reiterated that the amendment seeks to address the bill where the payment of retired primary school teachers would be placed in first line charges, as is the case of salaries of serving primary school teachers.
