Chairman of the Trade Union Congress (TUC), Oyo State chapter, Olatunbosun Olabiyi, has called on the Federal Government to fix all the refineries before the removal of fuel subsidy.

Olabiyi, who is also the National Financial Secretary of Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN), gave the charge in an interview with The Guardian in Ibadan. He said that the plan by the Federal Government to remove fuel subsidy had been an awaited event in the country.

“I think the entire populace and a good number of citizens have come to the reality that it is just an event waiting to happen.

“It should be removed but in a manner that will carry all stakeholders along and give a very good soft landing to the citizens. The direct impact on the citizens will be hard.

Olabiyi, who vowed to protect the interest of all TUC members in the state, said: ‘’As chairman of Oyo TUC, our primary objective is to make sure the welfare of members are taken care of, and their jobs are secured, because it is only when members have their jobs that they are our members.”
