The Rivers State Government has dismissed claims that a delegation of the Pan-Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF) and former President Olusegun Obasanjo paid a solidarity visit to Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, at Government House on Sunday, March 16, 2025.
A statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Nelson Chukwudi, described the reports as fake news being circulated by detractors and enemies of the state who do not want peace, good governance, and development under Fubara’s administration.
The statement said that ordinarily, the state government would not have responded to such spurious claims and fake news on social media. However, to correct the erroneous impression it may create in the minds of gullible and unsuspecting members of the public, it was necessary to clarify that no delegation from PANDEF visited Governor Fubara on the said date, nor did former President Obasanjo visit him.

The statement said, “Whatever the purveyors of these vexatious narratives are pushing on social media is only a figment of the imagination of enemies of the state who do not want peace, good governance, and even development—something the present administration has been working hard to bequeath to the present and future generations.”
It added that the governor has made it clear that he would fully comply with and implement the Supreme Court’s judgment on the political crisis in the state. He has already initiated processes to ensure that the orders of the apex court are implemented, but he pointed out that the Rivers State House of Assembly has refused to cooperate with him to facilitate the resolution of all issues raised by the court.
The statement also affirmed that the governor is ready at any time to take the necessary steps to ensure the resolution of the issues and the smooth functioning of all arms of government in the state.
