PDP cautions FG against escalating COVID-19 spread in Rivers
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has cautioned the Federal Government and its agencies against actions capable of escalating the spread of the Coronavirus in Rivers State.
The party also asked the Federal Government to restrain from acts that would portray it as politicising the fight against COVID-19.
The PDP, in a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan, yesterday, expressed concerns that the Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika, was escalating issues of protocols, which could have been managed through dialogue, to assume a political dimension.
He added: “Our party holds that the issue of public health safety should be of major concern to all actors in government, irrespective of the offices they occupy. We find it strange that the Federal Government would be supporting a private business to disobey the extant order of a state.”
The party declared that “all decisions and actions of the Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike, so far, rests on ensuring public safety and protecting the people of Rivers State from the scary wrath of COVID-19…”
