PDP floors APC in rescheduled Kaduna council poll
The opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kaduna State has won the rescheduled chairmanship election for Kajuru Local Council.
During the ballot at the weekend, PDP also won nine councillorship positions, sparing just one for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Declaring the result yesterday, the Returning Officer (RO), Dr. Ibrahim DanMaraya, from Kaduna State University (KASU), said that Ibrahim Gajere polled 14,432 to floor the immediate past chairman/APC candidate, Cafra Caino, who manages 9,095 votes.
As at press time, the result for Chikun Local Council was still being awaited.
The State Independent Electoral Commission (KAD-SIECOM) had initially scheduled the election for September 4, 2021, but shifted it to September 25 due to security concerns.
