PDP, SDP members defect to APC in Ondo
The camp of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State, at the weekend, received a boost following the defection of chieftains and members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Idanre Local Council of the state.
Also, a large number of Social Democratic Party (SDP) members in the same council defected to the APC, citing non-performance of their party during the last general election as primary reason for their decision.
Prof. John Jejelola, who spoke on behalf of the defectors, said the party’s structures of both the PDP and SDP in Idanre had been dissolved and merged with the APC to bolster the ruling party’s strength in the state.
Jejelola further stated that the outstanding achievements of the APC state chairman, Ade Adetimehin, who hails from the council, played a significant role in attracting the defectors to the APC.
He asserted that the PDP had become defunct in the state and expressed gratitude to Adetimehin for welcoming them into the APC fold.
Adetimehin said the chieftains of the PDP were the people who always gave him and his party a tough time during elections.
He declared that with their defection to the party, APC would be having a field day in all elections.
