A senator representing Gombe South Senatorial District under the platform of the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Joshua Lidani, has defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Lidani’s move was announced in the Senate on Wednesday by Ahmad Lawan, representing the APC in Yobe North constituency, Yobe state.

“Let me inform this Senate that very distinguished Senator Joshua Lidani representing Gombe South is defecting from the PDP to the APC. Congratulations,” Lawan said.

Lidani recently lost his reelection bid during the party’s primary to a serving member of the House of Representatives, Binta Bello.

The senator, who was a former deputy governor of Gombe State, didn’t disclose the reason behind his defection.
