The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has set up a fence-mending team as part of measures to pacify aggrieved members of the party over the zoning formula that gave the chairmanship slot to the North and Secretary to the South.

Meanwhile, the party congress billed to commence today (Thursday) has been shifted by one week. The congresses will now start on April 30, 2016.

However, the postponement will not affect the May 21 date for the national convention fixed for Port Harcourt.

Sources confirmed the fence-mending panel is made up of mainly state governors.

The Guardian gathered that the zoning committee led by Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom State met last Tuesday night as scheduled in Abuja with party hierarchy and resolved that instead of going ahead to conclude the zoning exercise, it should be suspended pending the reconciliation exercise.

Besides, The Guardian had reported that Emmanuel-led committee zoned the chairmanship to the North and Secretary to the South and was to meet last Tuesday to zone the national offices to each geo-political zones of the country.
