PDP wins Zamfara supplementary election
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) winner of the re-run election for Bakura Constituency.
According to the results announced by the Returning Officer, Prof. Yahaya Tanko Baba, the PDP polled 23,874 while the opposition, All Progressives Congress (APC), scored 16,546 votes.
The INEC had last Saturday conducted a bye-election for the Bakura Constituency but declared the election inconclusive due to alleged gross irregularities in 14 polling units and nine voting centres.
On the eve of the Election Day, the APC, through its Chairman, Publicity Committee, Ibrahim Muhammad Birnin Magaji, announced its resolve to boycott the election for lack of satisfactory security and loss of confidence on the electoral body.
The supplementary election was conducted without the participation of the APC amid heavy security.
