PDP won’t sink despite challenges, Umahi says
Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi State yesterday said despite the challenges confronting the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at the national level, it would not sink.
Umahi gave the assurance at a Christmas dinner he organised for members of the party’s working committees at the state, zonal and local levels at the Government House, Abakaliki.
The governor, who admonished party leaders in the state to be transparent and accountable, dismissed the rumours that he was planning to dump the PDP for the All Progressives Congress (APC).
According to him, the ruling party at the centre cannot win elections in the state because his administration has done very well.
Umahi cautioned the party chiefs against bribes and embezzlement if they must succeed.
“If they give you money and say it is for 10 people, tell them it is for 10 people. The worst thing in life is to spend alone the money that is supposed to go to three or four people. No man ever has enough. What is important is contentment and godliness.”
The state party chairman, Onyekachi Nwebonyi, assured the governor of members’ total support.
